I loved reading Evertaster, and was thrilled to find a novella was in the works before Adam's second novel in the series comes out. Sometimes those waits are so hard on a reader! While this is promoted as a side tale and set several generations earlier than Evertaster, the information is still vital. How else does one learn the secret to the first happy cows?Beyond the backstory, there is a lot to love about this book. Amusing word play, names that mean exactly what you think they should mean, sibling rivalry, sibling comraderie, unforgivable acts, actions worthy of legend, and something I enjoyed immensely, a small bit of anthropomorphism of the lovable cows.

After meeting the author at her school, my daughter was sooo excited.
She spent an hour reading the first day.
Who would have thought that vikings love butter best? Historical records about this fascinating group have missed out if they have failed to include Buttersmiths' Gold in their archives. It is fun. It is wonderful. It is fantastic.
My class loved this book - lots of action and held their attention - they were sorry when the book was finished!
After all four of my kids including a 13 y/o boy who is not a huge fan of reading fell in love with the first book, Evertaster, we had to get this next one. It's more of a companion book than a sequel but still a great read.
This was great for kids and adults. I am an avid reader of all kinds of books. I never give a book to my great grandchildren without ready it first. This is a keeper. I love all tales of Vikings and this didn't disappoint me. Look forward to reading more in the series.
Tall lads by the longship-full, taller tales concerning contented cows, concentrated goodness, gods' blessings and the gourmet demands of an unjaded palate. My what a tasty romp! To bad the lasses were all bovines or moms; well, to bad for those lads. But some how I think they'll do just fine.
This story reached my every expectation. I've seen this book promoted on a couple of my favorite blogs and I was very curious to read it. Imagine my delight when "The Buttersmith's Gold" was free for download on ! It's original, unique, imaginative and engaging, and can be enjoyed by young and old. I definitely want to get my kids this series!
