I hate cliffhangers. There are times when the characters actually expressed some true emotion. Like when Layla and Lisa fight, or when Layla pines after Trip. But mostly the kids responses to situations are way more grown up than they should be. it's hard for me to believe Layla completely cut Trip out of her life, or that, once they were friends again, she never asked questions. I'm sure the next 2 books are more of the same, so I think I'll pass.

Remember When The Remember Trilogy Book 1 edition by T Torrest Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

I pick up a LOT of free kindle books because I love immersing myself into a good story and I had been spending money on books that end up disappointing me in the end. It seems like a lot of books on here get high ratings but end up being awful-- same-old-same-old story line with characters you can't connect with at all. I want a book that makes me laugh, cry, swoon, and feel the butterflies in my tummy. This book crossed off everything on my "What I Want In A Book" list. I laughed out loud many times, even turning to my husband to share some of the funny parts with him. I found myself curled up in bed late at night with tears in my eyes at a few scenes. I even yelled "No!" out loud at least twice. I'm pretty sure I even blushed at certain parts, just from how sweet it all was.

I love a book where when it's done I feel like I know the characters. Like they're real people and they hold a special place in my heart. This book... was that book. It's now on my "top shelf" where I hold all the books I plan to read again and again forever. I even turned to my husband after I finished book 1 and said "Damn. Free book so good you buy the whole darn set". I stayed up until 3am reading the other two books and don't regret it at all.
WOW! Remember when I started this book and didn't think I would like it? Oh, You don't? Well... I do! And I want to rewind the last 8 hours of my life and kick my own a** for not thinking much of this one when I opened it up. But I guess that's the beauty of reading right? You never know which book is going to grab you by the heartstrings and refuse to relinquish it's hold on you until it sees fit. Like the book has a beating heart and a working brain and it KNOWS what it's doing to you and how it is affecting you at all times. That my friends, is how you know you have one heck of a story on your hands. I'll admit I didn't give this one credit in the beginning, thinking it would just be another mediocre story to cleanse my pallet from another amazing book I just finished but instead, it's eclipsing EVERYTHING in my brain and heart right now to the point where I can't remember the name of the last book I read.

At first, "Remember When" came across as a recounting of a high school crush on a kid who goes on to become a celebrity on Hollywood. I'm not big on high school drama because I'm nearing my mid 30's but this book quickly hooked me with it's witty character dialogue, heartfelt friendships and coming of age moments and not to mention a budding improbable romance you won't be able to put down. Layla and Trip are characters you don't even want to fathom NOT being together. A fast friendship develops between them and their story unfolds through misunderstandings, hurt feelings and goodbye's along the way. There's nothing big or flashy or fancy about it, it's just a simple story about two young people falling in love and handling tests life throws out along the way. Here's an example of a story that no review can fully explain what you'll feel and experience when reading it. You will just have to put on your big girl or boy panties and go through it yourself. I'm at an absolute loss for words, mainly because this book was free and I can't understand WHY I haven't heard about it sooner. Books like this make me wish there was a "hidden gems" category that people s*** themselves over so other readers would know just how AMAZING a story like this is. I'm baffled that this isn't more widely known, unless I've been living under a rock for the last several years. (It's possible, there's a gazillion books on the market now days). I know I'm gushing, and I swear this is an absolute HONEST review, I'm just so in love with this story I want to puke rainbows every time I open my mouth!!

I've never even heard of T. Torrest until I read this book but she's on my radar now. So, it's 3 am and I'm about to start binge reading the second book in this series because I CAN NOT move forward with my life until I know what happens to Trip and Layla!! Don't hesitate, don't over think and don't make the mistake of turning away from this story. You will not regret diving headfirst into "Remember When".
Fun, sweet, and hilarious!

Bust out the Aquanet and spray up those mall bangs, ladies! Because Remember When is like a time machine back to all your best high school memories!

Layla, the central character, is not girly-girly. She’s strong, she’s feisty, she’s quick-witted. She’s your best friend in a book.

And she is at the center of this witty, heartfelt story all about one of the most essential elements of high school - the high school crush. Enter…Trip.

Her friendship with Trip flourishes, turning into a crush, and inevitably…denial. Yes, their misunderstandings and insecurities might bother you a bit, but that’s part of what makes this story such an accurate accounting of a high school romance. They’re 17 years old! They have no clue how to navigate this experience. They’re still learning how to be confident and how to express these confusing feelings they’re having. Personally, I find their hesitation and awkwardness totally endearing! And the hilarious 80’s references keep it all light and fun!

Now, full disclosure…this is a continuing series which takes you into their adult years (so yes, there is a cliffhanger). But, no worries, the story just gets better and better, and you’ll be dying to find out what happens next with Layla and Trip. I just loved it!
Wow, where to begin? It felt like my best friend was telling her life story. I got so involved in the book, I bought the next two in the series immediately. The story is so believable, I kept wondering which movie star the author was writing about. The eighties references were incredible. The sex scenes were at the appropriate times, and hot, but that wasn't what the book was about. Such a good story - I smiled and laughed and wiped a tear. This one will stay with me for a while.
