This is a wonderful, honest and powerful book. I have been a subscriber to Alex's YouTube channel for a few years. I don't know Alex and I am so proud that by sharing his life and transition story he is helping so many people. Teen trans suicide is off the charts. I believe Alex's story, truth and honesty will prevent many kids from losing hope. RIP Leelah Alcorn. This book will also educate cisgendered people about what being trans means and hooefukky think twice about their own prejudices and behaviors. I am a 62 year old cisgendered man.
I loved your book so much. Being raised in an extremely fundamentalist Christian family my understanding of the LGBT community was through the blinders that they had placed upon me as a child. When I became a young adult and realized I was bisexual my entire world was ripped apart. It took years to except and love myself for me. After coming out I have spent to better part of the last seven years learning more about the LGBT community and it’s history in my country- the USA. I knew nothing about transgender people apart from the definition in a dictionary. So a friend recommended your book and I have learned so much from your story and others like you. I recommend your book to everyone. Thanks for writing it.

I am a psychologist and loved this book. Honest and real.
I found it well written and that he was very straight forward with how things went and are going. After following him on You Tube the book fills in with information that he could or would not say on his channel. Very good reading.
Fans of Bertie's YouTube channel will not be surprised that his memoir of transitioning from female to male is open, honest, at turns funny and deadly serious. An excellent view, for those of us who are not trans but want to understand, of what one person's transgender experience has been like. (And to his credit, Bertie does not claim to speak for all transpeople worldwide; he doesn't even claim to be able to speak for every white FTM transperson.)
